EIMC Guide to Prescribing Exercise

Integrating the Exercise Vital Sign!

A new tool developed by the multidisciplinary EIMC Advisory Council, the EIMC Guide for Prescribing Exercise assists primary health care professionals to assess and prescribe physical activity for healthy individuals and individuals with stable chronic health condition(s) but no active injury or acute condition.
The Exercise Vital Sign (EVS) or Physical Activity Vital Sign (PAVS) is a critical component of the guide. This vital sign consists of the questions leading to an assessment of the patient's activity level against the benchmark of 150 minutes per week of moderate-vigorous physical activity as established by the CSEP Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines.
